In this episode of Manage What Matters we catch up with the highly respected AFL field umpire and great storyteller “Razor” Ray Chamberlain.
At 44 years young, Ray talks about how he manages his frenetic work-life schedule which involves umpiring, running his financial services business and the Chamberlain Foundation, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Ray shares with Suze Jones the challenges of AFL ‘hub life’ during the COVID-19 twenty-twenty footy season, including separation from family and readjusting to family life; believing in the decisions you make (even when met with a barrage of colourful ‘extrinsic feedback’ from up to 95,000 people at the ‘G’); his thoughts on ‘maleness’ and men’s mental health; looking out for and helping your mates; and his take on the importance of looking after your own physical and mental well-being.
We thank Ray sincerely for being part of the Manage What Matters initiative.
For those who would like to take part in the Chamberlain Foundation Luncheon on Friday 12 March 2021 to help raise funds for mental health projects around Australia, tickets can be purchased here.
